20 Minute RPE Face-Fit Test Sessions

When Respiratory Protective Equipment (RPE) is used it is vitally important that the face piece fits the wearer correctly. If it doesn’t and leaks it means that the wearer will be inhaling contaminants (dirty air) that will, perhaps both short-term and long-term, affect the wearers health. A major cause of leaking is a poor fit mask, therefore face fit testing is a means of ensuring the RPE fits correctly. Wearers generally will need to be clean shaven for a ‘tight fitting’ respirator to seal against the skin correctly and help prevent dirty air being breathed in.


We can undertake Qualitative Face Fit Test (taste solution) sessions to assist those employers and employees meet the legal need of ensuring RPE fits correctly. Tests will take approximately 20 minutes per test. and  a minimum of 6 tests are required to make it economical, so please ring the office number to a arrange your test. The wearer will need to provide their own half mask respirator for the test and must be clean shaven. We can provide a recommendation on what type and manufacturer of RPE needed for wearers to be issued with and wear, if requested.
